External power is almost a requirement for the BMPCC–given its poor internal battery performance. While the 12v input on the camera is not nearly as weak or easy to damage as the HDMI port; any cable coming off the camera is susceptible to snagging and potentially causing damage to your rig.
 
The 12v Cable Lock anchors the power cable to the XLCS Cage--mitigating the strain that could be transferred to the power port in case of a cable snag. The lock keeps the power cable in place, while also restricting its movement–literally locking it to the cage. The locking screw makes contact with the power connector itself--avoiding any possible cable pinch or power interruption.
 
The 12v Cable Lock was designed to keep clearance open for other ports, and can be used in tandem with the HDMI Cable Lock. It can also be used with either the Hood, Rear Cover or Transparent backing in place.
